Collection: Lead Roof

A Lead Roof is a tried and tested roof type that has been used for hundreds of years. A familiar sight on churches and historic buildings but can look just as at home on commercial buildings and modern homes.

Our Range

A Lead Roof consists of a few different elements and you can be sure we offer everything you need to create an exceptionally high standard finish. The main component of any Lead Roof is the lead sheeting itself. This is supplied in rolls and when fitted along with lead flashing joints, ensures the roof is watertight and keeps water from running into the building. Another element you will need is the roofing underlay which we are also able to provide. We also sell lead wood core roll which is used in installation where two lead sheets meet, it gives the joint widely recognisable raised appearance.

Making a Choice

There are a few things that need to be considered when you are purchasing components for a Lead Roof. Lead flashing is manufactured in different thicknesses and weights which are designated by codes from 3 to 8. The thickness and weight determines what the lead can be used for. Codes 5 to 8 are able to be used for roofing as well as flashings something in this range is likely to be best suited for the purpose of constructing a Lead Roof. There are also different types of lead to choose from. Machine cast lead is the most cost effective and a good choice for a large project. Milled lead is becoming more popular as it can be cast in a wide range of codes making it versatile. Traditionally hand-cast, sand cast lead is often used on ancient and heritage projects.
