Drywall Nails

There are three types of nails for fixing drywall:

Drywall nails feature a barbed or ring shank that provides a greater holding power.
Cement-coated nails have a smooth shank that is coated with resin to improve its holding power.
Cupped-head nails have a rounded head that is easier to countersink for a smoother finish.

Drywall Screws

These Screws will give a stronger hold for fixing drywall, but cost a bit more than nails and have a Phillips\' head.

Coarse drywall screws feature coarse threads to help secure gypsum board to studs.
Fine drywall screws have smaller heads and are used to help fixing drywall to metal studs.
Self-drilling and pan-head drywall screws can be used with metal studs or frames for fixing drywall.
Trim-head drywall screws should be used to attach wood trim over gypsum boards.
Drywall Screws can be driven in with a drill or electric drywall screw gun.
